If you want a Supercar at a bargain price, you need look no further. The C6 Corvette is an incredibly good car. Looks, price and performance are outstanding. I traded a Lancer EVO MR for my first Corvette, an '06 LT1 coupe. I loved the car but I soon found out more about the 'vettes and traded it for a new '09 Z51 LT1.
This car is absolutely satisfying in almost all respects. The acceleration, braking and handling are stellar. The new LS3 engine with 436 h.p. is nothing short of phenomenal. Coupled with the 6 speed manual transmission, it offers a truly satisfying driving experience. The binders will stop the car in very short order and with no fade. To top it all, it gets better than 25 mpg on the highway!! It looks fantastic and rides very comfortably even in long trips. The only complaint I have is that the interior finish is on the cheap side. This is truly unforgivable for a car in this category and price.
Outside of the glaring lack of interior quality, the car is perfect. Too bad Chevrolet missed the mark on that. The basic model does come with the OnStar system, the XM radio receiver, etc. The sound system is quite good. The air blows ice cold. The information panel in the dashboard can give you all the data you need to know. From the tire pressure to the fuel consumption, 2 trip odometers, all the engine information, etc.
My car came with the Z51 performance option. This means the improved suspension, drilled rotors and special trans axle gear ratio. I also got the PNP exhaust which offers a quiet and pleasant rumble under normal driving conditions but opens up under hard acceleration to produce a wonderful, throaty, loud exhaust sound.
I've owned and driven many different high performance cars. There are some great cars out there with great performance at reasonable prices. However, the C6 Corvette is definitely in a class of its own. If you are considering one, go ahead and buy it, you'll not regret it. |
