The high repair bill for the power steering failure.

 Advice to buyer:

Google 'cobalt power steering.'

 Detailed review:

Looks good, good MPG. I thought it was a great car for my daughter to take to college. I bought this new from the dealer. The bumper to bumper warranty expired at 36,000 miles. Before the odometer reached 37,000 the power steering failed completely! I took it to the dealer to have it diagnosed (there's no power steering resevoir--it's all electric), and found out it would cost over $1,000 to get it fixed. I googled 'Cobalt power steering' and found out that there are numerous cases of the power steering failing on these new cars. One case of fatalities was discovered in Canada. GM is giving me the run around on this potentially dangerous situation. I hope that anyone considering a Cobalt will research this power steering issue. A two year old car should not get a $1,000 repair bill.
