Review: 2006 Kia Rio LX
It wasn't that long ago that buying a cheap subcompact car was kind of like visiting a proctologist: You did it because you had to, not because you wanted to. But the 2006 Kia Rio changes things. No longer a Korean penalty box, the Rio is a car that you can actually show to your friends without feeling overwhelming shame. It's got enough power for everyday driving, the interior is roomy, all the basic features are there and the LX model will come off the dealer lot for about $13,000. Buying a used stalwart like a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla for the same money might still a viable option but the Rio is nevertheless a very attractive buy.
