4.2 engine - hard to beat an inline for tuggin power
Least favorite feature:
fan clutch wines a high pitched noise
Advice to buyer:
Buy a 2006 - horse power is up to 291 and gives more time to work out bugs.
Detailed review:
I test drove every mid size SUV out there and settled on a used Trailblazer with 17k miles. The TB has better mileage and power than any I drove and it rides, shifts, handles like a chevy, smooth and powerful. I've had 2 issues, engine would not start in 30 below weather which GM engineers could not figure out and it was NOT freeze up because it would not start even when the temp came back up in the 20's and isopropyl was in the tank. Eventually they got it to run by replacing the throttle body. 2nd issue was it would not shift to 4x4 and this took 2 trys to fix which was a sensor. Other than that I have now had 25k of not a single issue. Mileage is also good for weight of vehicle - 21 highway
