Listen for whines and insist on repairs. That isn't the 'way they're supposed to sound.'
Detailed review:
This is our 2nd LS. The first was good, but had the problems of a 1st model year. This one has a better finish. Xlnt ride and power. Good value for money. Lighter paint colors are better. The black exterior paint is very poor. Transmission is a bit hesitant when shifting. And both cars had some degree of rear-end whine (though the new one got a Ford recommended rear-end replacement at 5K miles and now has very little whine). Very quiet and smooth ride with good stability on all sorts of roads. Test drive a few and you will notice that some have more wind noise than others. The exterior fit is not always tight. Interior plastic parts and trim should be upgraded by Lincoln.
