Wait until Ford works the bugs out of the 05's maybe even the early 06 and hold out for bigger motor. CVT works great but not sure if they will last or stay quiet. |

I Have had two Grand Marquis for over 200,000 each but purchasing this first year early model was a major mistake. I want to love this car and the Ford warranty has been good and dealer is trying his best but problems still abound. First the good. Lots of room in a midsize package, Great gas mileage, Power good but who can ever have enough. Fit and finish good, seats good, leg room good in front, excellent in rear. Very good head room, great trunk but needs larger opening. AWD super, really a Lots of car for the money. Now the bad , everything breaks, Alignment not good from factory, tires wore out inside of rear @ 12K and they got very noisey / Ford did replace. AC makes squel noise everytime the clutch comes on at higher RPM. Been repaired several times still not right but better. Dog legs chip easy had to repaint and put 3M on, squeaks, rattles, vibrating brakes bad rotors and on and on. CVT trans gets real noisey at 18K and dealer doesn't know how to fix I think its going to blow up. Most fixed now except Trans & AC. I purchased this new car because I was afraid my old GMark was going to put me in the shop a lot but Since I have had this car I live there. Look I am an on the road Sales guy in my late 40's I drive a lot but I am not hard on my cars. Like I said 200k on both of my last Grand Marquis and never a problem, ever, My advice don't buy an 05 500 wait! If Ford gets the bugs out and maybe a bigger motor go for it but right now WAIT!!!!! or if you don't need AWD buy a Crown Vic or Grand Marquis. |
