I drove the Toyta 4Runner because we have a 1997 model.I though it was a good vehical but the quality in the years 1998-1999 have gone down hill. When i took my parents 4runner to the dealer and compared the 1999 to 1997 the 1997 was all around better. When you slam the doors on the 97 it sounded solid but when you slammed the doors on the 99 it was tinny like the Ford Explorer. The ride quality is not that smooth on either model it seems rough like a truck my dads Dodge Ram is smoother if you ask me.It takes forever to get up the mountains with the 3.4L.We Have already replaced the head gas Kits at 20,000 miles and that is poor.My advice is to get a Jeep,Durango or Lexus Rx300
