It could use a couples inches more ground clearance in stock form.
Advice to buyer:
Look at the 5 year cost of ownership its about 5-6 thousand dollars less.
Detailed review:
I purchased my silverado in July 2004. It has the Z71 offroad package leather interior onstar Bose sound and XM radio.
In considering which truck to purchase power and fuel economy are equaly important to me. I added a Flowmaster muffler and Fram airhog filter. I get 18-20 MPG on short trips and over 22 on longer freeway trips. This is with the 5.3L (327CI) V8. Power is Near musclecar level.
The Silverado had a hydoform steel frame which is box sectioned, coated is wax for rust prevention and has 7 crossmembers. It is extremly rigid and strong and this contributes to a quite ride and good handling. The frame structure also saves about 500 pounds of weight while providing this strength.
The Silverado engine, frame and features are the product of many years of refinment. I think that it is superior to the new Nissan Titian in many key areas.
