Detailed review: |
The Sti is a very capable and supurb handling vehicle. To compare it to the Evo VIII, it is vastly easier to drive daily as it has a broader power band that is easier to modulate by comparison. There is more power at the low end of the tach whereas the EVO reminds of an old two stroke dirt bike or Banchee for the power characteristics-lots of lag then terrific and difficult to modulate power-the right peddle is an on/off switch only. The Sti has variable valve timing and has little lag and usable power off turbo, a far better power plant. The handling is first rate, and equally capable, however the feel is not as precise as the EVO. The build quality is excellent, however most things you would expect to come standard on a $32k turbo charged sports car are options-most notably the radio and speakers, and of all things-the turbo boost guage-Whats up with that? |
