Too much noise, too little power. |
Advice to buyer: |
If you don't live in the mountains, don't do minor maintenance, it probably is a good car for the money. |
Detailed review: |
Overall this is probably not a bad vehicle for the price ($13,800) but to me it is underpowered in many conditions and it is very noisy. There is excessive noise even at low speeds which I belive may be tire noise and going up mountains it is unbelievably noisy. With a good start and nothing in the way it takes the mountain quite well but once it slows the torque is so low at the lower RPM's it winds above 5000 RPM and struggles to hold 40 to 45 MPH. Gas milage is fair on the highway but short commutes is around 26 MPG.
If you do minor maintenance such as oil changes be prepared for the worst experience you ever encountered getting the filter changed. The filter can only be reached by raising the auto and reaching a full arm length on the back of the engine and then getting drenched with oil.
The cruise control has an idiotic switch on the panel which is difficult to tell when it is on or off and the rest of the control is on the steering wheel. Why the entire unit is not on the steering wheel defies imagination.
On the positive side it has good trunk space, handles and rides well for a small car. |
