The 5 speed automatic transmission without the ability to lock-out 5th gear.
Advice to buyer:
Still consider the Vue but beware of the concerns so you are not surprised
Detailed review:
The Saturn Vue FWD with the Honda 3.5 V6 is a sleeper car. A lot of horsepower and light weight. There is not a lot of plush to this SUV but it is a great value. The product that is delivered from the assembly line is very good but the dealership is still GM without the price haggling. There was no concern for the customer. My Vue was delivered half washed (even though the salesperson said that the car would be detailed) and the leather shift knob and leather steering wheel cover each had a cut. There was even a noticable grease spot in the carpet. The front seats are adequate but not great, competitors offer better seats. I am dissatisfied with the automatic transmission selector that only offers 1, I (3), and D (5). In D the car shifts quickly to 5th gear and the engine lugs at or below 1500 RPMs in normal driving. Having the ability to lock-out 5th and drive in 4th gear would make the Vue more enjoyable to drive leaving 5th for highway driving. With the high horsepower and polymer side panel, a front strut bar would stiffen the body on high speed turns (a rear strut bar would also help). How much did Saturn save with the low quality horn? The horn is not loud enough to catch anyone attention.
