Advice to buyer: |
Be careful when your child is near the door so no injuries accure |
Detailed review: |
The automatic doors are not child sensitive and closed on me and my husband while testing all the features on this van. I was really suprised that the van passed any side door safety test. My husband couldn't stop the side door from closing by using both hands and pulling on the door. No matter how hard he pulled the door just kept on closing until it finaly shut. Now just imagine a small child trying to get into or out of the side door and someone starting the door to close while the small child was in the way. I really wouldn't want to think of the damage it would cause. Don't get me wrong if you put your hand(body part) in the way of the sensor the door does stop. Just pray that your child is in that precise spot in order for the automatic door to stop before the child is seriously injured. I put my shoulder in the way of the door, as if I where putting an infant in a carseat and my husband started to close the door, the door just closed me in until I moved out of the way and let it close.
I can only say that I hope that Honda will think about what they have missed on the testing of their automatic doors and do some more research before a poor child gets seriously injured, or have the sensor perform like the rear door in a similiar safty test that my husband and I did with every van that we looked at.
Also the dealer asured me that all the proper test were done and that no child would ever get hurt by the side door. So then I challenaged him to a test. I asked him to put his hand on the outskirts of the frame just inside the door, where a small child might be as if he/she were getting in or out and I starting the door to shut. He did and to his surprise the door just kept on closing and the sale's man had to move his hand or have it shut in the door. He really didn't say much after that, not a thing. Needless to say that we were not impressed. Althought the look of the van is great and the sun roofs are a wonderful and sporty look it's not worth the maybe rare insicident that one of my children or childrens friends get caught in the Honda Quest side automatic door and possibily get injured or killed.
We would have loved to own this van otherwise.
My husband and I went with a Chrysler Town & Country. |
