Detailed review: |
Even before/without media coverage, you can immediately tell that roll-overs are very, very possible, and they do not take much to cause them(I haven;t had one). The car is strong, sturdy, and rides extremely well.
However, the parts and tooling are shoddy, with frequent breakages and parts failures on the low side of mileage use. The seating is extremely uncomfortable, making the Expedition the least comfortable car to both drive and passenger in.There is a total absence of storage space, and overall space is tight; yet, that is what you get for the third bench--hard to find in most SUVs. Gas mileage? There ISN'T any. It's as bad as the stories purport it to be. Brakes are still original after 42,000 miles, but tires, wheel rotation, coolant systems and horn need
maintenance every 15,000 miles or so. This is not a well-built car, nor is it shoddy, either. The Expendition just plods---safe and big in small collisions, unsteady and unsafe in bad weather and at high speed turning, but you shouldn;t be doing much of the latte rin an Expedition, anyway. For a five-person family, it is great; for less, it's excess space that can be put to better value in a much more comfrtable car---which the EXPEDITION definetely is NOT. |
