Get the 5.4 liter, the smaller 4.6 liter doesn't have enough power.
Detailed review:
The Expitition has plenty of power for towing and for getting around. The interior is spacious with plenty of room for everything from baby accessories and ice chests for trip to the river to 8 people. The ride is exceptional, smooth, quiet and comfortable.
