 Comments

 Favorite feature:

Sitting up straight, feeling in control of the car. The secure feeling over bumps.

 Least favorite feature:

The lousy gas mileage. The window sticker proclaims 15-18, but so far I am seeing 12 mpg.

 Advice to buyer:

Make sure you get all the discounts available. Check the vehicle for body damage from the factory

 Detailed review:

The Buick Ranier runs very quiet. There is space on the interior, and at the same time it gives one a feeling of being cozy. Both my wife and I felt the same feeling of not wanting to get out of the car. There is a secure feeling sitting there. Driving it also feels secure. Many say the interior is not as luxurious as other $40,000 cars, but to me they all had shortcomings in their interior design. I liked the simple nature of the dash, with a touch of wood grain here and there. I would of course like real cherrywood instead of the black walnut plastic trim. The seats are comfortable, but not the same softness as I found in the Jeep Overland model. The Jeep, while appearing more luxurious, gave a smaller feel, and I felt confined, although the specs say the space is the same. The center console in the Ranier is poorly designed because if you put several CD's in there, then there is a pocket of useless space below, without access. I just like the car. It is smooth, fast enough, and with the V8 it has plenty of power up hill. I downplayed the performance and quality because of two factors. One is the poor gas mileage, and the second is that there is small spots of body damage that appears to be from the factory prior to painting. In addition to what looks like it was sandblasted in one small area above the door handle. And...the wax guy at the dealer is overzealous...it appears that he buffed some of the paint right off the car. These are very small spots and barely visible to the naked eye. Otherwise they would have entered the negotiations prior to my buying that car.
