 Detailed review:

I am a BMW biggot - or used to be. I thought that BMW would set a new standard for the SUV class when they introduced the X5. It could of gone one of two ways. BMW could have raised the bar in an American only industry or they could get pulled into the pack of acceptable but not exceptional SUV's. Unfortunately, BMW went with the flow and delivered a vehicle not worth the BMW logo or price I paid for the 'piece of s_ _ t!' The first 12,000 miles were enjoyed with unspectacular results but not alarming. After 20,000 miles, I would have rather had my Blazer back. The POC fell apart and worse yet, BMW did not know how to respond to a poorly made vehicle. Chevy handles irate customers everyday and stocks the channels with parts. This is not the case with BMW. For the 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty - good luck on getting BMW to live up to that promise. You will have to fight for every repair that goes against a warranty claim. I suspect that they are trying to keep reported repairs low to claim quality awards. Buy an X5 only if you want to pay more and get less.
