Make sure you get the new Stratus SXT with the V6 engine.
Detailed review:
I recently had problems with a 2004 Stratus SXT purchased in May of 2003. This vehicle had the Mitsubishi 4cyl engine and transmission. I developed leaks in the transfer case seal and other issues. The dealer was very accomodating and treaded me into a redesigned 2004 SXT that was assembled in Feb. 2004. The new Stratus SXT has the 6cyl engine and transmission made in the U.S. Power seat, Sun Roof and sports suspension. What a tremendous difference in the performance of the vehicle. I am averaging 23mpg in the city and have not had a test with highway driving yet. The interior seems a little smaller, but the overall feel of the car is much better. We actually feel safer in this Stratus the previous ones.
I woul not be afraid to recommend the new Stratus SXT.
