The 2003 Avalanche is a 4-door, up to 6-passenger full size pickup, available in 4 trims, ranging from the 1500 2WD to the 2500 4WD. The 2003 Avalanche's closest competitors include the Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4X2, the Ford F-250 SD Crew Cab 4x4, and the Nissan Titan. Upon introduction, the 1500 2WD is equipped with a standard 5.3-liter, V8, 285-horsepower engine that achieves 14-mpg in the city and 18-mpg on the highway.
