GM’s Green Drive – LA Auto Show News Brief: Well, he said it. So in the future, if GM scales back its plans to build vehicles powered by alternative means – electricity and such – we can point to none other than the Boss, Rick Wagoner, as the source of our expectations. He certainly did sign up for some lofty goals, starting with more hybrids – including a plug-in hybrid – and a renewed commitment to electricity, plus more emphasis on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. But then, he didn’t actually sign up. Meaning, well, two protesters crashed Wagoner’s speech during the LA Auto Show with a banner and a request: now that you’ve said the words, sign the banner and make the pledge.
Rick demurred. The speech, however, was perhaps the most urgent about the environment and fuel efficiency that we’ve heard in recent memory.
