Three trim levels are available for 2002: S, LS and Limited. Each is available with either two- or four-wheel drive. The 4WD S version comes with a five-speed manual transmission; all other Troopers have four-speed automatic transmissions.

Isuzu's full-time Torque-On-Demand (TOD) system comes on all 4WD Troopers with automatic transmissions.

All Troopers are fitted with a 3.5-liter double overhead-cam V6 engine that produces 215 horsepower. All come standard with anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, independent front suspension and a four-link rear axle, power steering, cruise control, dual front airbags, air conditioning and power everything else.

2WD S starts at $28,105. 4WD S is $28,555 with a five-speed manual gearbox and $29,405 with an automatic. New for 2002 on this version is privacy glass for rear windows.

LS, at $30,690 in 2WD and $32,690 in 4WD, adds an in-dash six-CD changer, power moonroof, fog lights, leather-wrapped steering wheel, limited slip differential, heated power front seats, intermittent wipers and color-keyed fender flares.

Limited models ($34,660 in 2WD and $36,660 in 4WD) are distinguished from the outside by a handsome two-tone paint scheme and 12-spoke alloy wheels. Smooth leather seating surfaces tightly stretch over five large seats, and a large, powered glass moon roof includes a sun shade. New for 2002 is a standard Nakamichi premium audio system that includes an in-dash, six-CD changer. Last year such a system came only as part of a special $2,600 anniversary edition package as Isuzu celebrated its 85th year.
