| What Mercedes-Benz says |

Citing its long history in the luxury coupe segment, company officials boast that "large Mercedes coupes have been synonymous with style and exclusivity in the automotive industry for decades. They set the standard in terms of design and equipment, combining exemplary safety with an outstanding level of comfort and assured handling. In short, Mercedes coupes are extraordinary dream cars – automobile classics." "The new CL-Class is another Mercedes-Benz masterpiece. Just as the luxury coupe points the way to the future with its innovative technology, the design has also set the mould for a new Mercedes style. Its hallmark is the interaction between distinctive tightly drawn lines with large, unruffled surfaces. This design idiom lends the coupe its own particular expressive power, emphasizing the calm and power of its powerful, self-confident nature." Sounds to us like the marketing fellas stayed up a wee bit too long to write this stuff, but by the looks of the new CL-Class, as well as its features and power, it seems that they and the rest of the Mercedes-Benz crowd have a right to be proud.

About Thom Blackett
Thom Blackett joined Autobytel in 2000 as a Research Analyst with the company's data division, Automotive Information Center (AIC). After four years of pouring through press kits searching for minute details, Thom jumped to Autobytel's editorial team. Born and raised in the state of Maine (no, it's not part of Canada and yes, the proper pronunciation of lobster is "lobstah"), Thom has always been a car nut, using his grandmother's potholders as steering wheels to "drive" around the house as a youngster. His biggest sorrow is never getting to know his grandfather's 1959 Caddy, or the '62 Impala Convertible and '69 Chevy Malibu that his parents once owned. As Autobytel's Road Test Editor, Thom strives to write articles that serve to inform as well as entertain. A proud member of the Motor Press Guild, Thom holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Maine. Comments may be emailed to thomb@autobytel.com.
