With significant improvements inside, subtle changes outside and an all-around improved driving experience, we can almost forgive Jeep for building a 2WD Wrangler. We ask our own “Dr. Z” some important questions, below:
Dr. Z, is it true that Jeep is building a two-wheel-drive Wrangler? Did someone lose their grip on reality over at Auburn Hills?
It would seem so. Heck, Jeep doesn’t mind if a bunch of people buy the 2WD variant as long as the check clears. We’ll say this, however – someone, somewhere, is marking this down on a ledger. Dr. Z, does the Wrangler Unlimited really drive like a Wrangler?
It’s actually better than a two-door Wrangler. It’s bigger, has impressive off-road credentials, is much nicer to drive on pavement, and seats five inside a thoroughly revised cabin. Dr. Z, does the Jeep Wrangler really have better on-pavement manners?
Yep. A stiffer chassis, longer wheelbase and improved suspension make the Wrangler quite the gentleman when there’s a stripe on the road. Plus, it sure doesn’t keep it from getting down and dirty on the rocks and in the mud.
